Julien Beautemps guitar
Sotiris Athanasiou accordion
These two virtuosos combine a sense of humour with dazzling technical prowess, presenting musical masterpieces in arrangements full of remarkable invention. The extraordinary meeting of the accordion (Julien Beautemps) and the distinctive “moov” guitar (Sotiris Athanasiou) has been captivating audiences in France and across Europe ever since the duo’s much-talked-about performance of Fazil Say’s mesmerising Black Earth on France Musique.
Effortlessly traversing diverse musical worlds, Argos does not limit itself to reinterpreting masterpieces of the past – such as Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Debussy’s La Cathédrale engloutie or Ravel’s Boléro.
The duo also embraces contemporary sounds: fresh new compositions, virtuoso Brazilian dances and, of course, tango – continually revealing the vast expressive potential of their instruments. Both musicians are graduates of the Paris Conservatoire (with a Master’s degree in chamber music and the prestigious Diplôme d’Artiste Interprète). They are regular guests on France Musique and at major festivals, including Radio France Occitanie, Auvers-sur-Oise, Les Jeudis Musicaux de Royan, Saoû Chante Mozart and La Folle Journée de Nantes.
In September 2025, their debut album Argos, Masterworks (DiscAuvers) will be released, featuring their latest interpretations, including a new arrangement of Ravel’s Boléro created in collaboration with mezzo-soprano Axelle Saint-Cirel, marking the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
