Ensemble Maru is a piano quintet composed of outstanding Korean soloists. The members include Violinists Gangwon Lee and Eun Jl Kim, Violist Park Soyoun, Cellist Yujin-Kim, and Pianist Park, Yeonwoo. Each of them has showcased a distinctive presence on stage, and together, they are exploring deeper, more harmonious ensemble music, pushing the boundaries of musical expression.
In Korean traditional culture, ‘Maru’ carries various meanings such as ‘the highest, most excellent place’, ‘sacred space’, ‘a space for communication and openness’, and ‘a symbol of community and equality’. Just as ‘Maru’ embodies a philosophical space that reflects the life, spirit, and communal values of Koreans, Ensemble Maru connects people through music, transcends boundaries, and creates a stage where artistic authority and authenticity coexist. Ensemble Maru is committed to leading the popularization of classical music and creating new artistic values through active engagement with the local community, while reflecting both Korean sentiments and contemporary sensibilities.
