Maciej Cisowski

Maciej Cisowski graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where he studied composition with Professor Aleksander Lasoń and symphonic–operatic conducting with Professor Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk.

He made his compositional debut with Cinematic, performed by Sinfonietta Sonora, and his works include Slides (commissioned by the New Music Orchestra), Where the Spirit Penetrates the Senses for a cappella choir (First Prize, F. Nowowiejski Competition in Olsztyn), Days on the Coast, and the choral–symphonic concerto Qualia.

As a conductor, he has appeared at La Folle Journée de Varsovie, the M. Spisak International Festival in Dąbrowa Górnicza, and the H.M. Górecki Polish Composers Festival in Bielsko-Biała. He has collaborated with ensembles such as the Silesian Philharmonic, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, the New Music Orchestra, and the Karol Szymanowski Youth Symphony Orchestra.

He has led workshops at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice and worked with many distinguished soloists across a broad range of orchestral projects.

From 2018 to 2021, he was director of the Sinfonietta Sonora orchestra at the Academy of Music in Katowice. Since 2020, he has taught at the State Music Schools in Żory and Sosnowiec. In 2024, he was appointed conductor of the Symphony Orchestra at the Secondary Music School in Bielsko-Biała, where he also teaches conducting, choral and orchestral studies – combining artistic practice with education to foster the development of young musicians.
