Symphony Orchestra of Stanisław Moniuszko State Music Schools Complex in Bielsko-Biała

The Stanisław Moniuszko State Music Schools Complex in Bielsko-Biała is a first- and second-level institution where young musicians are encouraged to cultivate their passion for music. A strong emotional connection between pupils and the school means that many graduates return as teachers, preserving tradition and fostering intergenerational continuity.

The school currently educates around 450 pupils across several programmes: an eight-year Primary Music School with a general education curriculum, a four-year Secondary Music School, and an afternoon Primary Music School. Its 130-member teaching staff is led by director Barbara Cybulska-Konsek.

The curriculum encompasses instrumental studies, rhythmics, music theory, and preparation for regional, national and international competitions and auditions. Artistic activities include concerts, recitals, in-school performances and class showcases. Pupils have the opportunity to develop their skills through participation in the school’s symphony orchestra, chamber ensembles, choirs and computer music studio.

The Bielsko-Biała Music School co-organises prestigious events in partnership with the Centre for Artistic Education (CEA), including national competitions for flute, double bass, harp (Musical Spring) and piano (Musical Autumn). Its students are frequently awarded top prizes and receive scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The school plays an active role in the cultural life of the city, contributing to initiatives such as Bielsko-Biała: Polish Capital of Culture 2026, the Polish Composers Festival, the Bielska Zadymka Jazz Festival, and the Gaude Cantem choral festival.

It has been recognised with an Honorary Diploma from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the IKAR Award from the Mayor of Bielsko-Biała – a testament to its significance as a leading centre for music education and culture in the region.
