Wojciech Wantulok

Wojciech Wantulok graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, where he studied symphonic and operatic conducting under Dr hab. Szymon Bywalec, Professor of the Academy.

He won first prize at the 3rd Katowice Piano Composition Competition and received a distinction at the 1st National Young Pianists’ Competition in Łańcut, named in honour of Teodor Leszetycki.

During his studies, he collaborated with numerous orchestras, including the Karol Szymanowski Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the New Music Orchestra, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, and the Archetti Chamber Orchestra of Jaworzno. He served as assistant conductor for performances of Audition No. 3 by Andrzej Krzanowski, and in September 2018 took part in a staging of Audition No. 5 – a ”meta-opera” by the same composer, performed at the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice and at the Warsaw Autumn Festival.

He has further developed his skills through conducting workshops with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra (2015, led by Professor Rafał Jacek Delekta), Juozas Domarkas (2017), and Professor Marek Pijarowski (2018).

Since 2019, he has served as conductor of the Karol Szymanowski Youth Symphony Orchestra and, since 2021, also of the Stanisław Hadyna “Śląsk” Song and Dance Ensemble.

He teaches conducting at the University of Silesia, the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, and the Wojciech Kilar State Music School Complex.

From 2009 to 2011, Wantulok was organist during Lutheran services at the Chapel of Saint Hedwig of Silesia at the Presidential Residence in Wisła. Since 2015, he has served as principal organist of the Jesus Church in Cieszyn, where he is also Artistic Director of the Wyższobramskie Concerts festival.

He was awarded the Rector’s Scholarship for Outstanding Students at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
